More Macedonians

I've had a few frustrating days. The HaT Napoleonic French baggage wagons and ambulances have been an absolute beast to assemble. The gluable plastic is anything but glueable in this case. Previously on the German motor cyclists and cavalry normal polystyrene glue has worked OK, this time the best result was a temporary fold which fell apart when handled. The very flexible nature of the plastic also made assembling the parts difficult. In the end I went back to my old tried technique of welding with a hot pin.

I'd also worked on the HaT German cyclists, this time the glue worked OK, but the sculptor overviously never ridden a bike and no-one seems to have tested the assembly before sale.

Finally to cap it all we had the storms and a 30 hour power cut

On request, here's a few more close up pictures of the Macedonians

That's all for now

Alexandrian Macedonians

Well, at long last I've finished my phalangites so the bulk of the army is completed. I built it for use with WRG 6th edition based on the normal alexandrian army list. The figures are mainly Hat Macedonians, plus a few Zvesda/Italeri Macedonian Cavalry. The phalanx shields came from Little Big Man Studios. These took a while to apply as each one has to be cut out individually, but the overall effect is great.

The one unit still missing is the Hypaspists as these haven't been produced by HaT yet. The WRG army list gives an alternative of using some phalangites so I'll start off using them this way.

The whole army

The various light troops, Psiloi, staff slingers and Agrianes

The cavalry, mainly companions in wedge.

Alexander himself (Zvesda/Italeri figure)

Overall impression of blogging this time - slightly easier, but getting the pictures right needs manipulation of the html

PiPz III & Tatra staff car

First blog posting, so I'll see how this goes.

I'm still working on my Macedonian phalangites, hopefully I'll have them finished by the end of this week. I've started on the Hat baggage wagons and ambulances, but the so called glueable plastic is not easy to glue and I ended up going back to my traditional welding approach to fitting the parts together.

I took some photos of my old pioneer panzer III, for the group on Showcase20. I built it over 30 years ago based on the old Airfix Stug, It has not done badly over the years but the the two foward support posts are now missing and need replaced.

By contrast here is my Tatra staff car, which I painted for my Romanians. It was very much an impulse purchase from Kerr and King. The design with the fin is such a classic style for the era.

Blogging - Not so easy this time, but we'll see
